An escape the whole family will love, there are plenty activities only a hop skip and jump away from the hotel. 

As a luxury family hotel in Ireland in a prime rural location close to Dublin, there are numerous things to do for children of all ages.

Gather the gang for the perfect getaway where your little ones can enjoy activities and outdoor fun that is only a short drive from the hotel. The region offers great variety, including wet-weather attractions in Ireland, major cultural events, and activities suitable for smaller members of the family.

Lullymore

Highlighting Irish heritage, culture and the environment at it’s best.

The 60-acre Lullymore Heritage Park is set in a gorgeous landscape with woodland and peat-land trails.  It’s great for children, with a forest-themed play centre (indoors), plus an outdoor play area, crazy golf, pet farm and train trips.

Dublin Zoo

One of the oldest zoos in the world.

Dublin Zoo opened in 1831 and has a rich history. Cairbre, a lion born here in 1927 became famous as the roaring icon of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film studio.

The park now has over 400 animals in 28 hectares with gardens and lakes, including the spectacular new Orangutan Forest.

Tayto Park

Both a zoo and Ireland’s only theme park.

Tayto Park has everything for the family. For thrill-seekers, the Cú Chulainn Coaster is Europe’s largest wooden rollercoaster with inversion, but there are gentler pursuits too, such as the Dinosaurs Alive attraction with animatronic beasts, and a children’s playground.

Grand Canal Barge Trips

 

Wind your way through the County Kildare countryside on a traditional canal barge.
You can make the 20-minute journey by car to Sallins to join any of the scheduled cruises or charters departing from Sallins Harbour or, The M.V. Amo is available to charter from www.bargetrip.ie for groups of up to 12 people for an afternoon cruise from Cliff at Lyons to Sallins Harbour.
On arrival in Sallins, you can sample some fine local craft beers at Lock 13 Gastro Pub.”

 

Newgrange

A World Heritage Site.

Newgrange is a Stone Age (neolithic) monument. At 5,200 years old, this fascinating site has been in existence longer than Stonehenge and the Giza pyramids.

A large, circular mound long known as a ‘passage tomb’, it is increasingly being recognised as a spiritual location, more like a temple. Private tours can be arranged.

Donadea Forest Park

Part of the old Aylmer family estate (who owned Lyons from the late 13th century until 1797).

Donadea Forest Park in Kildare is now a national park of about 243 hectares of mixed woodland with lovely walks that take in features such as castle ruins, a church, ice house and walled gardens, plus a large lake.

There is also a 9/11 memorial in the park.

Wallably Woods

Nature trails, woodland walks and the outdoor lifestyle.

The family-friendly Wallaby Woods, where there are rare breeds plus a petting area. Camping is also allowed here.

The Kildare Maze

Family fun for all ages.

Perfect for young and old, there is plenty to do at The Kildare Maze. Enjoy crazy golf that will have you in stitches, test your balance and kill on our adventure trail or wander through the mazes. Get the whole family ready.

Malt to Vault

Explore the history of Kildare.

Hear the story of Arthur Guinness, and take the short journey to his mausoleum in a spectacular graveyard with the best view in Ireland.

Japanese Gardens

Explore the beautiful scenery of the Japanese Gardens 

The Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens, renowned throughout the world and the finest of their kind in Europe, are far more than simply a treat for the eye. Let your little ones escape in the great outdoors as there is a great variety of play equipment including swings, slides and climbing frames, the play area overlooks their fallabella and Living Legends paddocks. It is open all year round for our season ticket holders.
